Our Global Climate Emergency

A group show at Phillips Gallery from July 16 - Aug 13, 2021.

Could art assist in the concerns about the current climate crisis? We believe it can. 29 artists came together and created work that conveys hopes and beliefs that we can change the direction of the crisis by influencing the public on future thoughts and actions that we take everyday.

I chose to focus on the landscape, lack of water, and too much heat. Dry flowers, trees, parks being closed due to crunchy vegetation. Want to have color in the world, in your life? We need water.

Interestingly enough, I use rusty metal in my encaustic work. Metal needs water to rust. I also use heat to fuse the wax to the metal. I need both water and heat for my art to work. Irony? Absolutely.

I believe that if we all focus on being advocates for our planet we can make a difference. Just start in our own little world and reduce, reuse, and recycle, we can rebuild.
